What does overthinking mean anyway?
A chief purpose of the brain is to think, right? Yes.
How then, can the brain over think then?
It is like saying your throat over-swallows or your heart over-beats or your eyes over-see.
If overthinking is not what we mean, what do we really mean to say?
- We need to ACT versus continuing to be indecisive.
- We need to decide on a course of action based on advice, discussions, agreement, etc.
- We need to choose an item/service based on pros and con, like and dislikes, etc.
Danger of the using the term overthinking…we blame the brain for doing one of its chief functions - thinking!
Inadvertently, we end up blaming the brain and suppress taking full responsibility for inaction, indecisiveness, and failure to choose.
